The new BMW 4 Series comes to market this summer and most likely will be followed in 2014 by an ALPINA version. The Buchloe-based automaker currently offers a B3 model based on the current 3 Series sedan and coupe. With the new naming convention from BMW, the expectations are that an ALPINA B4 will be introduced for the first time next year at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Rendering artists are already playing with potential ALPINA B4 designs and today we are looking at a first iteration. Dejan Hristov takes the base 4 Series Coupe and gives it an ALPINA treatment which includes a more aggressive body kit, rear diffuser, four-tailpipes and ALPINA-exclusive paint jobs.
The ALPINA B4 BiTurbo coupe will share the same drivetrain as the B3 sedan and touring, and of course a future B4 Convertible. Specifically, we are looking at a massively revised version of the BMW inline six-cylinder engine with Valvetronic (N55), supplemented by a second turbocharger.
We will be looking at around 410 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque pushed through a rear-wheel drive architecture via an ALPINA-specific eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The performance of the ALPINA B4 will move on par with the ALPINA B3 sedan, just slightly over 4 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.Top speed will come at 300 km/h.
We assume that the ALPINA B4 will also be offered with the xDrive setup.
