TMZ and Jalopnik are reporting on a mysterious fire and explosion that involved a BMW X6 M and the manager of UFC’s star fighter Randy Couture.

Sam Spira, Couture’s manager, was driving with his daughter in the passenger seat when he heard a loud knock coming from under the hood. Shortly after the engine warning lights came on and the car burst into flames.

Spira managed to pull his daughter out of the car and in the process he suffered some burns. Seconds after the X6 M exploded. Luckily for the two, the incident occurred in a neighborhood and near speed bumps which allowed them to quickly stop.

I wish this were the case. BMW has done everything to avoid inspecting the car. The explosion occurred on Nov 3rd. I would think the general protection of the public would drive BMW to at least figure out if this was a one-off or a systemic problem. By the way, BMW’s only response thus far has been to offer a net $250 owner’s loyalty credit. After owning numerous BMW’s over the last 15 years, I was disgusted to see the brand so evasive and unwilling to stand by its own product.

I expected nothing else from BMW. Mercedes-Benz and Audi cars never have such serious problems. Only fools buy BMW.

BMW is itself irony over those fools who pay money for that ridiculous brand.

Recent poll showed 87% of gay men prefer driving an Audi.
