In 2011 the rumors around a new X vehicle have been constantly appearing on our radar. According to German magazines and sources closes to BMW, the company is looking to add an X2 model to the SAV family. The rumor mill churns that the F47 X2 is scheduled for market launch in 2016.
BMW insiders say that Munich-based automaker sees X2 as a mix between the “X” and “Z” models, somewhat similar to the design ideas shown in the original XCoupe Concept, a three door model with modern and aggressive lines. Same reports say that the X2 is more of a coupe rather than a dynamic SAV.
The X2 is marketed as a competitor to the Range Rover Evoque and Porsche Cajun.
Our own sources have yet to confirm the greenlight on the X2 and say the company is currently heavily focusing on the upcoming BMW X4 built in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Roger Lighterness is giving us a rendering of the X2 and how its design might look like.
