Spy photographers spotted the new BMW 4 Series Coupe. Due out in 2013, the 4 Series Coupe is built under the F32 codename and for the first time will carry the 4 Series moniker.

The 3 and 4 Series will be marketed differently. The new 4 Series Coupe will allow BMW to price the vehicle slightly higher, at a premium price and to compete directly with offerings from Audi (A5) and Mercedes-Benz (smaller SLS).

Even though the test mule was covered with now widely known psychedelic camouflage, the spy video shows an overall dynamic design with design cues derived from the recently unveiled F30 3 Series. The sleek coupe will become a viable alternative to the higher-end 6 Series Coupe, with character lines running across sides that will enhance not only its sportiness, but also a more luxurious and premium look.

Just as the new 3 Series, the 4 Series Coupe will be offered in three lines: Sports, Modern and Luxury. Each will differ from each other by offering distinct equipment options.

To cater to different type of drivers, the BMW 4 Series Coupe will come equipped with adaptive suspension allowing to adjust the settings by pressing a button.

In the engine department, the new 3 and 4 Series models will make use of both four and six-cylinder turbocharged engines. The highest-end offering will be the 335i.

BMW 4 Series Coupe will debut in Spring 2013.

If i get one of these,
First thing to do will be putting a 3-series badge on it.

  2. LaMa says:

its more of a 2 door sedan then anything since the E30.

  3. ectopic says:

They need to do more to differentiate the styling from the “3” if they are gonna call it a “4”

  4. Al7oot says:

what is the difference between the 3 series and this new car ?

  5. Catzura says:

I know you guys aren’t Mercedes experts, but the “baby SLS” has been mentioned several times on here as a 4-series competitor. The closest competition from Mercedes will be the E- and C- class coupes. According to various sources, the baby SLS (which will likely be called SLC) will be a Porsche 911/Audi R8 competitor, with an Aluminium/Carbon Fiber body and seating for two- not a sedan based coupe.

  6. FlyNavy says:

If I squint – it looks like an e46 – particularly from at the rear quarter panel.

  7. Anonymous says:

Way better looking than the last gen – in this artist rendering/photochop.  Looks more like an e46 than the mugly e92.

  8. Endicott says:

Bland…hopefully the actual design has more style and character than this.  I agree with the prior coment that it looks like a 2-door sedan.

When I cover the front end I see Honda.

  9. Nnnn says:

given that they increased the height of the 3-series, will the 4-series be shorter and lower?   That is, a return to sportiness?

  10. V8 says:

    Should have V8 e.g. 3 litre option.

  11. BimmerUser says:

For now I can only say: What an ugly car. BMW disappointed me. This car can only dream to be compared with: e30, e36 or e46. Even e92 doesn’t look that bad in compare with that piece of crap.
