    Dear Mr. Villaverde

After a fun drive in an M5 in Germany, once again I find myself in the market for a new car and once again I am faced with the price difference between the USA and Canada.  I am looking at a 328 or 335 cabriolet and on the 328 base price there is a difference of ~ $11,000.  That doesn’t take into account that the $US is lower than the $CDN, that’s at a 1:1 exchange.  The added features are similarly priced. $550 for a metallic price option in the USA and $800 in Canada. I then pay HST not just on the price but also on the difference. Obviously I am not willing to pay the difference, not because I don’t have the money but because the pricing practice is not defensible.

Can I get the $USD price by taking delivery in Germany and then having the car delivered here in Canada. If I find a lightly used model in the USA will I face difficulties getting the certification from BMW allowing me to import into Canada? Can you suggest any other solution please?

    Best regards,
    David Calveley
