Is the new 2012 BMW 1 Series starting to grow on you? According to some of our readers, the in-motion videos tend to give the new 1er a less controversial look and from certain angles, the car could actually be considered “good looking”.

The F20 1 Series goes on sale this fall preceded by a public debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The US market will most likely not going to receive the hatch variant and customers will have to wait for the redesigned coupe and convertible arriving in 2013.

Along with a variety of new options, the 2012 BMW 1 Series comes with a large array of exterior colors: Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Crimson Red, Mineral Gray, Midnight Blue, Deep Sea blue, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Liquid Blue, Valencia Orange – yes, the very same orange paint available for the 1M.

Still ugly. It has the proportions of a FWD car.

If I was the editor of this blog, I also try to convince my readers to change their minds.”Yes, the design is controversial, but if you look at it, is more convincing! “Unfortunately, the fact is that this 1 Series is a missed opportunity to do better, and a more opportunity to blend into anonymity Korean-style …

No one is trying to convince anybody, I am the first to say the exterior
design was a letdown. Yes, it does look better from different angles and
with the M Sport package. We only state what we see, that people are slowly
      starting to like the design.

The reason I’m slowly starting to like the design is because I’m seeing more shots of it. In this case, I think the proportions of the vehicle are easier to see when it’s in motion. I had the same experience with the new 5-series as with this 1-series. When I first saw photos of the new 5 I thought it was downright boring… but when I saw it in person it was absolutely stunning.

There are angles from which it looks good, but there are also angles from which it looks terrible. Pretty bizzare design.

It’s even worse than the current 1-Series.

bmw you have to conpete with mercedes A class and audi A3 both of them do much better and attractive designs for thier cars, i feel real desopointed; bmw design departement do much better with the concepts desing only; i’m start carry about the 3er

  13. Roberts says:

The BMW I had before was a 328×1 and it was terrible over potholes. In the 2012 x1 you can barely feel it and it uses less gas.
