Klier, a member of Germancarforum spotted the upcoming BMW M3 GTS sedan at the BMW testing facility near Nurburgring. Last month, BMW previewed the new M3 model based on the current generation E90 M3 sedan at their M headquarters in Garching.
The M3, also dubbed by the interwerbs as “Lightweight”, is set to debut in June at the Nurburgring M Festival. At the time of unveiling, we learned that the M3 Sedan Lightweight will be making extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight parts that will reduce the overall weight of the car.
BMW also revealed that the power output will be between the “regular” M3 and the M3 GTS, so somewhere between 420 and 450 horsepower.
But one important aspect that was left off is the naming convention. Initial reports, including ours, made a reference to the M3 GTS Sedan marketing badge, but recent information indicate that BMW might reuse some of the previous naming convention. Our thoughts went immediately to the M3 EVO, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
On June 23rd, BMW will reveal all the details around this new exciting M3.
