The BMW Vision EffcientyDynamics Concept has been once again spotted on the set of upcoming blockbuster Mission Impossible 4. Last year, we broke the news on the new 6 Series being featured in the the popular Hollywood franchise, but just a few months later, we learned that the Vision ED will also star along Tom Cruise.

The popular franchise returns this year with episode number 4 and shooting already began last year in Dubai and the UK.

According to our sources, “Mission Impossible: The Ghost Protocol” will include some car-chase actions that will feature the new 6er, along with other BMWmag glass 10x10 BMW Vision EfficientDynamics spotted on the set of Mission Impossible 4models. Today, we find out what other BMW will be featured in the Blockbuster flick and that is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept.

This time, the film set moves to Mumbai, India where the future BMW i8 vehicle makes another appearance. The VED was accompanied by a 2011 BMW 6 Series during a scene.

The folks at Team-Bhp describe the scene for us:

Last night a scene from Mission Impossible 4 was shot at Prabhadevi. It included the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car, a BMW 650ci (2nd Gen) and a BMW 5 series whose front and rear bumpers were removed to mount cameras. I was present at the shoot with fellow T-BHPian dhrishikesh. A traffic jam was simulated on Appasaheb Marathe Marg using second-hand cars from Mahindra First Choice Wheels. There were approximately 50-60 bouncers all over the venue to ensure that photographs weren’t taken with nearly 10 of them guarding the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics. I tried to take a close up shot of the 5 series camera car, but a bouncer snatched my camera away with a stern warning that next time, my camera will be impounded. After the shoot started, we positioned ourselves on the foot-over bridge from where we could get clear shots and avoid the bouncers as well. I have pics of both the cars, except the 5 series camera car.

Quite a stunning car when placed in the real world.

i am sure that Indian in the blue car was like WTF is that!!!!

I don’t know what this product placement does for their image. Or their credibility.

BMW royally fouled up when they turned down the Wachowski brothers for the Matrix. Nothing will ever compare to that product-placement opportunity.

Cadillac aka GM threw more money at the Wachowski brothers (or is it now brother and sister?) than BMW to get the gig.
BMW/Warner Bros. originally intended to colloborate to showcase the then unseen E60 5er to which the Wachowski brothers thought the cutting edge E60 would be a perfect fit for their virtual world.
The launch would have coincided with the actual 2003 launch of the E60 5er and the Matrix Reloaded in the Summer.

It was the same with the Transformers , GM outbid everybody else, but this summers Transformers 3 allowed other manufacturers to outbid the recently bankrupt GM which is why there are the Ferrari F458 Italia and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG on screen alongside the GM product placement.

Strangely enough VAG turned down the Beetle because they have a clause of their products being used to promote “War” Even Fictional Giant Robots fell into that category. What a boon for VW would it be if the new “Beetle” launched this year featured in the upcoming blockbuster?

There was an Audi R8 in the second one but Audi did not promote it’s appearance and neither was there a life-like toy based on an R8 but a similar looking sports car which did not look like an R8.

But BMW are back in Hollywood and have an arrangement with Paramount pictures for Mi4 and Warner Bros. for two other projects as product placement.

I hope they make a pure petrol version with the new M5 engine instead of this 3 cylinder engine.

  5. Manny Antunes says:

BMW is back in the “product placement” business. Yipeee….where you been BMW??
