The super saloons, as our UK friends call them, are back together for a new photo comparison. Just days ago, BMW unveiled the new F10 BMW M5 Concept, the super-sporty luxury sedan that joins the 5 Series family later this year.

The new M5 also joins some tough competitors in the super sporty sedan segment. Mercedes-Benz brings to the table the E63 AMG, while Ingolstadt-based Audi throws into the fight the RS6. Official tech specs of the new M5 are unknown at the moment, but we know the F10 M5 will be powered by a new V8 TwinPower Turbocharged engine that is rumored to produce 560-565 horsepower. The engine is matted to a 7-speed M DCT with Drivelogic transmission. A manual transmission will most likely be offered as well.

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG has under the hood a 6.2 liter V8 naturally aspirated engine with 525 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The V8 NA engine is matted to the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed.

Last, but not least, the Aud RS6 is powered by a twin-turbo 5.0 liter V10 engine with a whooping 580 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Styling wise, each car has its own strengths and the choice can be quite subjective. So let’s just outline some of the design cues. The F10 BMW M5 builds atop the safer and more stylish design of the new 5 Series. The design language is easier on the eye than the previous E60 generation and the M5 enhances its aggressiveness to the M-specific levels.

The E63 AMG follows the recent design language from Mercedes with square design cues, double-headlamps and LEDs integrated in the front bumper. Just like the M5, the rear bumper sports the twin dual-exhausts, but shaped differently.

Audi RS6 is in our opinion in need of a redesign. The front-end is less aggressive than we would like to see and the car mostly stands out due to its amazing power. The front-end brings out the LEDs seen on all the recent Audis; same principle applies at the rear-end.

As always with a new BMW that launches on the market, we prepared a photo comparison against its competitors.

clearly the audi looks like crap compared to the e63 and f10 so im not even gonna comment. the merc is definitely more aggressive from the front but overall, i think the m5′s got this one (and im not even sold on the concepts design)

Agreed, I really hope they shock us with the production model and ad some more aggressive styling cues. It’s gorgeous and all but too similar to a regular 5 a with M-Sport Package.

      • Tom Cardone

i sadly like the m-sport front bumper better than this giant oval thing lol but i see where they were going with it

BMW’s new styling direction for this M5 is subdued. On purpose. A return to Q ship status. If you look at the E28 and E39 M5, they were simply bumper changes and in the E39′s case, mirror and muffler upgrades. The E60 was the first departure from subtlety, and it didn’t go over well. The F10 M5 will be the Wolf in sheep’s clothing carrying a machine gun once again!

The E60 M5 was the best looking M5 ever made and also the best selling and most successful one to date. Who says it didnt go over well ? Only a handful of old E39 M5 owners who didnt like Bangles shape. Obviously a lot of people loved the E60 M5 based on sales.

“Didn’t go over well” Referring to how well it was received in the press. And as for how well they Sold, they didn’t! We had to give them all away. Last year there were HUGE rebates to help us move them, otherwise they’d be multiplying like rabbits…

          • Josh N-K

It only sold well because of tht amazing v10

BMW fanboys have complexes by Audi :)
Audi is older model but still looks the best. BMW never made nice cars.

When you put them all side-by-side, I think the BMW wins without a doubt… and that’s why I visit a BMW website!

The BMW M’s styling is the only one with any hint of creativity. The Audi looks super boring, the E looks nice but the kit looks very standard. The M5 on the other hand looks very unique. It starting to grow on me with every minute.

  • Par_ents

F10 does it! The E63 looks too boy racer and snap together! Audi is clearly an also ran in terms of the style!

  • Tom

No doubt the M5 takes the cake.

When viewed from the side, the Hofmeister kink adds much to the sportiness of the M5; makes it look more dynamic, especially when compared to the Audi and Mercedes’ bland window line.

BMW looks stunning no doubt. Audi is making such a powerful engine, but the theme of the body doesn’t mates to the engine. I think, adding just a few sharper looks like headlights and bumper redesign would make the Audi worth. Merc on the last is somewhat good, somewhat bad, as it has always been….

The F10 M5 desing actually is fantastic when compared to its competitors… Not too aggresive, not too conservative. It has all the balance that it needs. Something still bothers me though, the reflector on the rear bumper of the F10 is a bit of a spoiler… Even if they release the F10 without any changes, it still is the best looking of the rest.

    for me.
    front
    1.MB
    2.AUDI
    3.BMW

    side.
    AUDI
    MB
    BMW

    rear.
    MB
    BMW
    AUDI

hp .audi wins although the new RS6 is coming so the beauty and design will go to audi so will the over 600hp.
the most beutiful rear goes to MB and its beautifully shaped tailpipes.
interior is all MB and audi.

    thats it.

    • Manny Antunes

Keep one thing in mind when comparing the Audi’s overall HP advantage. The Quattro system is a HP hog!! In some instances we see a drop in HP to the wheels of 50-60 HP! So compare that to the AMG and M5′s 560-580HP and the Audi needs the extra power to muster up a similar 0-60.

Is it only me, or anybody else thinks those black rims are bad for M5, really bad. E60 M5 standard rims, that was beautiful, not this.

  • boom

the mercedes looks like shit ahahaha

  • Sajan

Bit off topic here but I’d like to mention this. The grilles on audis just don’t have any road presence, whereas the bmw kidney grilles and merc’s grille with the three pointed start demand respect. Is it just me who thinks this?

  • SmithG

The old V10 M5 by Bangle is better looking then the ugly Mercedes and Audi. The new M5 is a winner. M power !

The F10 M5 makes me fall in love all over again. Love the lines coming back towards that more classic E34 and E39 style.
