In a BMW, the seat is considered part of the vehicle’s suspension. BMW releases a video on their Youtube channel that takes us into the labs where the driver’s seat is engineered for sporty driving.

Several BMW specialists explain the process behind creating a BMW seat and the factors that go into the production process.

An interesting tidbit of information comes at the end when a Peter Wolf, Director of Vehicle Body and Configuration, explains that the final decision on which seat to use in a BMW is made on the race track, and not behind a desk.
