In June of this year, BMW of North America released a Limited Edition BMW M3 with an unique paint: matte Frozen Gray. Only 30 units of the 2011 Frozen Gray M3 Coupe were produced, offered with the special exterior color, exclusive sport seats and special interior elements that will differentiate the Limited Edition M3 from the standard model.

The M3 Coupe dedicated to BMW enthusiasts was painted in a special matte-gray paint, Frozen Gray, with a deep metallic luster, which highlights the athletic contours of the M3. The interior are unique too, a combination of Fox Red / Black bi-color Novillo leather.

Within fifteen minutes after going on sale, BMWNA announced that all units have been pre-ordered and sold out. Fast forward a few months later, and a Florida-based dealership surprisingly has one of those limited edition Frozen Gray M3s sitting in their lot. Vista BMW/MINI in Coconut Creek, FL has a Frozen Gray BMW M3 in its possession which it is now selling for $98,900, and their including the one day enrollment in the BMW Performance Driving School that was part of the original sales deal.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the majority were purchased by dealership and resold with significant markup.

The way I understand it a buyer’s name had to be in place with a non refundable security deposit paid for before the car would be shipped to the dealer. There was one person who was trying to order the car, then mark it up a bunch and flip it. But I know BMW cancelled that order almost immediately, especially after he started posting all over the net that he had one for sale to the highest bidder. I beleive the dealer that tried to work the deal with him also got in some heat for trying to circumvent the process. Dealers could not order the car for their inventory for resale.

YUP! I was going to say the same thing….Stealership….
