Following the major recall in the US, the Chinese market also sees a similar recall with more than 21,000 luxury sedans from China to fix the faulty brake system.

BMW’s vehicles which have been recalled include 21,383 imported BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series manufactured between Dec 14, 2001, and Nov 23, 2009, and 388 Rolls-Royce Phantom luxury cars manufactured between Jan 1, 2003, and Nov 30, 2009.

BMW’s recall is to fix faulty brake boosters, which may be contaminated by lubrication inside the vacuum pump and could cause failure of the brake boosting function.

On October 1, BMW announced the recall of 350,800 BMW and Rolls-Royce vehicles worldwide. The reason for the recall was a possible leak in the power braking system, potentially causing a vacuum loss and consequent reduction of power braking assistance.
