Months ago, a new BMW rumor began to circulate on the interwebs. This time, the rumormill was churning that the next generation BMW M6 is out of the picture. The misleading report was quickly dismantled by BMW insiders who since have confirmed several times that the F12/F13 M6 is still part of BMW’s future plans.
Today, for the first time, spy photographers managed to snag some shots of the BMW M6 Convertible during a session at the famous Nurburgring track in Germany. The usual M giveaways are present: wider fenders, M quad exhaust pipes, larger wheels and aggressive front-bumper.
The test mule continues to sport the soft top, an indication that this is the final choice for the upcoming 6 Series family.
The new M6 will likely be powered by an upgraded version of the 4.4 liter V8 engine, producing between 585 to 600 horsepower, similar to the upcoming BMW M5. As with the regular 6 Series, we expect lots of Gran Coupe design elements to make it into the M6, featuring an aggressive front-end, a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser.
The power is exclusively directed to the rear wheels and should make for an impressive acceleration. A regular sprint to 60mph is not expected to take more than 4 seconds.
F12/F13 M6 models will make their debut at the end of 2011.
