BMW’s plan to conquer the premium segment includes the launch of about 20 the brand new models before 2014 ,if we include new body styles such as convertibles and station wagons. There is hardly a segment in which BMW will not have a presence and the company’s ambitious plans are admirable.
This fall, BMW launches on the market the 5 Series Touring, its fourth edition of the popular variant. The new BMW X3 follows shortly with its second generation. In early and mid-2011, BMW will launch on the market the BMW 6 Series, convertible and coupe.
2011 is the year of the new BMW 1 Series and the first variant to come to market is five-door model hatchback. In 2012, BMW will launch the redesigned 1 Series Coupe. No final decision on the launch date has been made, but the expectations are that the new 1er Convertible will come in early 2012.
In addition, in the fall of 2011, BMW fans will get to enjoy the F10 M5, the latest and most advanced M vehicle every produced.
The most important model of the BMW brand, the top-seller and earner 3 Series, will be available in mid-2012, initially in a sedan and Touring form.
An entirely new product, exciting and fresh, the four-door Gran Coupe Concept, will also debut in early 2012
The 6 Series-based Gran Coupe will go head-to-head with the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7.
Next M version of the 6 Series follows in mid-2012.
2013 are more versions of the BMW 3 Series and MegaCity Vehicle
2013 follows up with two other interesting variants of BMW’s top seller: 3 Series Convertible and the daring GT version of the middle class model. Another vehicle rumored to launch in the next years is a smaller roadster. The BMW Z2 has been rumored for quite some time now, but the green light has yet to be given.
In 2013, BMW will launch a new sub-brand that represents BMW’s investment into the premium electric segment. The MegaCity Vehicle family will expand BMW’s offerings and plans to attract new customers to the brand. Rumors has it that the entry-level electric vehicle will be a front-wheel drive variant called BMW City, while the high-end customers will benefit from an electric supercar.
Other surprises are in the pipeline, but BMW continues to be lips-sealed about them.
