Our sister-blog BimmerToday has recently come across a series of funny videos starring BMW Isetta, a symbol of BMW’s Museum. The videos belong to an extensive marketing campaign initiated by the BMW Museum to celebrate the first anniversary of its reopening. The campaign is intended to remind the people of Munich of its existence, to capture their attention and to transform the BMW Museum in a buzzword around the city.
The short clips “BMW Museum greets Munich” are also dedicated to the Sixt car-rental company, the emphasis is placed on the long-time partnership with this company and the possibility to rent classic cars from Sixt.
It is interesting that a third video focuses on BMW’s competitor in Ingolstadt, Audi. It’s a bit difficult to understand the reason in this case, but it can be related to the recent launch of the Audi A7 in the Pinakotek der Moderne Museum in Munich. The location chosen by Audi was regarded by some as a deliberate challenge addressed to BMW, as it is situated very closely to BMW Welt and BMW.
As usual, BMW greets Audi with a whole series of small Isettas and the message is once again clear: BMW is fearless when it comes to its Ingolstadt-based competitor. Despite the endless and provocative challenges launched by Audi, BMW remains confident that it will continue to strive as the world’s most successful premium automaker.
Update: Apparently there is also a fourth video: The BMW Museum salutes the Nymphenburger Porcelain Factory. Thank you for the tip, Steve!
