BMWBLOG attended the 60th anniversary of the first Concours D’Elegance at Pebble Beach. From 30 cars being displayed for the first in 1950, the world’s most elegant show has grown to an estimated 255 cars and motorcycles.

With an estimated 15,000 people in attendance and more than 650 volunteers helping with the logistics, Concourse d’Elegance Pebble Beach 2010 has also drawn cars from 33 different states and countries, including Asia, South America and Europe.

Along with the “classics”, the Concourse also displays a large variety of concepts and production cars, and this year, attendees have been spoiled by some unique vehicles being displayed for the first time. Some of these vehicles include the Morgan Eva GT, Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, one-off XJ75 concept, McLaren MP4-12C, Lexus LFA or Maserati GranTurismo Convertible.

It’s a must do at least once for any car guy. Expensive, crowded, and heavy on sensory overload, the experience is absolutely incredible.

Last time I was there I asked the owner of the Martine Inn in Pacific Grove when the best time to visit Monterey was and he said anytime but the week of the Concour (and he is a car guy and who hosts a meeting of the ‘Fabulous Fifties’ – Los Angeles based car group – during ‘the weekend’).

And you can almost be guaranteed to see one of everything. In 2003, as I came into the gatehouse to access the 17 Mile Drive, two Bugatti Type 35s were coming out. Un-fricking-believable.

    It is a bucket-list must.

Yes you are. BMW could HAVE brought out the Vision Concept or even Gran Coupe, but wasn’t planned for this year. Even the 328 Kamme Coupe would have been perfect, but we will see more of BMW in the future shows.

Can’t a car company be unique? Pls whats Merc or Audi answer to the X6 for example?

    • LexusLVR

They are smart enough to avoid that pit the X6 sits in.
