In 2012 BMW will refresh their top-seller BMW 3 Series. The F3x platform will replace the existing E9x models, taking BMW design and technology into an era.

Early prototypes of the F31 3 Series Touring/Wagon continue to be covered with the typical BMW camouflage, including the now famous psychedelic tape and fake body panels.

The exterior design continues to remain a mystery, but we expect the new 3 Series to feature a similar design language as the newly launched models.

The next BMW 3 Series models will pay special attention to efficiency, as part of the EfficientDynamics program. Low drag aerodynamics, smaller engines, and high-tech electronics will combine to make the next 3 Series a step above the current car.
One of the new and highly advanced EfficientDynamics technologies to make its way into the next 3 Series will be the “air curtain”. Using a special series of ducts and vents, the system directs air in a manner such that it slips neatly over the wheels, which are normally an area of high turbulence, and therefore energy-sapping drag.

The 2012 BMW 3 Series will be powered by four and six-cylinder engines.

First 3 Series in a concept form is rumored to be launched in 2012, most likely in a four door variant.

no match for Benzs ( MB-inventor of automobile, aka THE BEST) c class never have been ,never will be

i must admit that the chance of me ever owning a MB or a BMW when I grow up are bad. as you can all see from my comments here, im not too bright ,never will be

Just to let you know that the inventor may not always be the best. There are others who can perfect what you have invented. Just for your information, MB did not invent the automobile. In fact, the 3 Series segment was started by BMW. Merc came to take a piece of the pie years later with their copycat C Class.

They also did that with the GLK, trying to be like the X3, smart trying to be like Mini – we can all see how badly they have failed.

I think it’s interesting how small it looks next to the 7-series in the very beginning and then how comparable in size it looks to the 1-series at the very end. I thought the 3-series was going to get a bit larger, but this looks a good bit smaller to me.

Is that a red BMW 2002 in the background?

I really hope that they will not bring that failure of a steering “BMW’s new electric steering as found in the new 5″ to the 3 Series because it will just mess up the handling and dynamics of the car. If I had to coose between using 0.1l /100km more and poor handling with that electric steering of BMWs, I would rather have a car that consumes 0.1l/100km more.

What electric steering you talking about? You have no idea. Go read about it.

I said I”hope”BMW will not. You read.
