One of the most attractive 5 Series models for the UK market is the new 2011 520d. Powered by a four diesel turbocharged engine, the new 184hp BMW 520d delivers class-leading emission levels of 129g/km of CO2 as well as a combined fuel consumption of 48 MPG(US).

It achieves this through a combination of lightweight engineering (aluminum crankcase), the latest generation of common-rail direct fuel injection and a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry, mated to its four-cylinder engine. Eight-speed automatic gearbox is available on the 520d – the first time a four-cylinder powered vehicle has featured such an advanced transmission.

The BMW 520d Sedan is expected to be the highest selling model with around 60 per cent of the total volume.
