The talented artist Theophilus Chin and Paul Tan give us some latest renderings of the 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe and Cabrio models. Inspired from BMW Gran Coupe Concept unveiled at Beijing Motor Show, the renderings illustrate some of the characteristics of the next generation 6 Series: super sleek and sporty .

These new rendering shows BMW’s likely application of crisp new lines across the hood, along with a matching crease down the side profile, the same convex/concave surfaces we have seen on the recent models.

The corona ring headlights become a characteristic of new BMWs and as expected, they made their way into the new 6 Series as well. As also rendered by the artist, the taillights continue to sport an L-shape and LEDs.

Built on a new platform, the 2012 6 Series Coupe is slightly longer and wider than the current generation, with dimensions between the new 5 Series and the 7 Series. The new 6er features shorter overhangs and wider fender flares, enhancing its aggressiveness.

The contradictory reports around the 6 Series top variants continue, but we continue to believe that BMW will only offer the 6 Series Cabrio with a soft top.

The first U.S. 2011 6 Series model will debut in March of next year in the form of BMW 650i Convertible. In July 2011, the 650 Coupe will follow. Later in September of 2011, the BMW 640 Coupe and Convertible will launch, along with the xDrive variant of the 650.

The 2012 BMW 6 Series is rumored to be unveiled later this year at the Paris Motor Show and possibly a U.S. unveiling in L.A.

    Don’t like the rear bumber.

  • Giom

Yep, real talented artists these… the compositions looks very good!

In mho, I think the two door will look different to the four door – not by much, but distinctive. But how ever they might look different, they’re gonna rock!

  • Jaao

Pretty cool but he forgot about the exhausts, and the front bumper.

    • Bryce

I do think the exhaust will be integrated into the rear bumper, though.

Cant wait for the real deal, particularly the 650i.

The key thing to remember is that these renderings are based on the Gran Coupe Concept. So they come out more two door Gran Coupe than a 6er Coupe.
6er has a more dramatic roofline because there is no need for two extra doors.
In real life. The Gran Coupe has then lowest roofline of any new BMW , it is lower than the 7er , 5er and even the 3er Coupe. You can see a momentous amount of difference between the Gran Coupe and the 6er Coupe in it’s roofline.

    I just can’t believe it’s gonna be a soft-top. It’d be a hard-top.
