Jay Leno’s love for cars is notorious and his garage includes one of the largest collection of cars, from ancient models to expensive collector models.

But it seems like Leno appreciates “regular” cars also, as regular as an M3 could be. Us, the mortals, refer to it as an icon, but to Leno might be just a another car sitting somewhere in his garage.

Jay Leno and race driver Jason Bell give the 2011 BMW M3 a thorough review before heading to the 2010 Long Beach Grand Prix to talk to BMWNA Motorsports manager, Martin Birkmann, and BMW Rahal Letterman Racing driver Bill Auberlen about the similarities and differences between the road-going and race-only versions of the M3.

Let’s have a look

It was interesting, but seemed quite deliberate. There was very little analysis, debate or comparison. The segment comes off kind of like an infomercial for BMW, very much like what Test Drive (?) did for their M3 episode on the Speed channel.

interesting, thank God Jay has a plenty of money for all the repairs this M baby-power needs……..EVERY MONTH !
One of the most unreliable car in that segment you can find.
That one and only bimmer looks so small and pathetic next to all those Blacks, AMGs in his garage. Sad

I have no idea what you are talking about Plaxico. Maybe you are related to the football player with a statement like that. I work at a BMW dealer in the service dept. and the e90/92 M3′s have been extremely reliable with almost no issues at all. My friends S5 on the other hand has been in the shop 9 times in 4 months of ownership. His father’s black series Benz has been in the shop for 3 weeks now because they can’t find the reason why the engine keeps going into limp mode. They even sent an enginneer from Germany to look at it and he couldn’t find it after 2 full days of working on the car. It’s the 3rd time he’s been in for the same concern and he’s only had the car for 6 months. So get your facts straight before bashing THE BEST, MOST RELIABLE car in the segment…EVER.

a-ha, what happened when you woke up?

    it’s not a 2011 model…

I think this is, surprisingly, one of the most sensible and down to earth reviews on the M3. In fact I like it a lot. And Jay Leno’s opinion is one to take into account… Without exaggerating, I really think BMW M3 is The Perfect Car, since it offers the best of both world’s. I absolutely agree with this other guy:
