Courtesy of our long time reader Matt S., we have some new photos of the BMW Z4 GT3 and the ALPINA B6 GT3 at the FIA GT3 European Championship at Silverstone, England.
ALPINA’s B6 GT3, made its official debut in 2009 at Geneva Motor Show. Alpina B6 GT3 is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 with radial compressor, taken from the BMW ALPINA B6 S which delivers 530 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. It uses a 6-speed sequential gearbox and only weighs 2,976 lbs. op speed? 177 mph and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds.
ALPINA fields two race cars in the FIA GT3 European Championship, as well in national GT3 races in Belgium, Brazil, Germany, England, France and Italy.
While not as fast as the BMW M3 GT2, due to the regulations imposed by FIA, the Z4 GT3 is an impressive machine. It is powered by the 4.0 liter V8 engine found in the current M3 producing approximately 480 horsepower. The engine is controlled by the modern ECU 408, while the Power400 control unit is responsible for operating all actuators. The transmission takes place via a sequential, six-speed gearbox.
$400,000+ is a steep price, but for those private racing teams looking for the ultimate racer, money comes second.
