The 20 Most Expensive Cars To Insure BMW M6 Cab on 12th place

Insure.com, quoted by eGMCarTech and Jalopnik, posted their Top 20 list of most expensive cars to insure. As somewhat expected, three of the BMWs at the higher-end of the pricing scale, made this top as well.

The BMW M6 Convertible takes the 12th place with $2689.13 price to insure annually. The 17th and 18th places are occupied by the BMW M6 Coupe, respectively BMW 760Li, the most recent BMW flagship. While the M6 Coupe’s annual insurance figure is exactly $2627.27, the more expensive 760Li follows with $2565.59.

Clearly, the top is dominated by some of the sportiest and fastest cars out there: the 2010 Porsche Carrera GT2 with $2943.78 annual insurance price, the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG with $2863.03 or the Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe, $2851.89.

Mercedes-Benz is by far “the winner” of this top with 7 mentions.

As a fun fact, our 2008 335i has a premium insurance price of $1560 in the beautiful, but always windy Chicago.

You wrote that the most expensive car to insure is the Carrera GT, but in the list, it’s the GT2

  • DDI

What is this insurance for and what does it covers? I’m not from US.

  • plaxico

arrangement in which you pay money to a company, and they pay money to you if something unpleasant happens to you

    • DDI

Let’s say I hit a car. This insurance will cover repairs for my car and for the car I hit?

      • plaxico

……if it was only that easy. Whose fault was it?usa /eu? All states in usa (except New Hampshire and Wisconsin) and in EU ,require drivers to carry liability insurance. Driving without it is illegal

  • Gord

Shouldn’t the highest insurance go to like a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Rolls Royce ?

Those cars are much more expensive and hence would probably have a higher insurance.

Insurance is based on statistics, not just car value.

The less claims made for/by a a certain model the cheaper the insurance is likely to be. Also factor in driver demographic statistics, and geographical statistics..

as expected the most expensive bmw, the M6 convertible , just look how weak bmw is with all those mercs around

You gave an evidence that you’re indeed a child. Maybe your father drives MB, but surely not you yourself, since you’re proud that insurance for MB is expensive. As far as I know each driver is happy whenever she can pay less for car maintanance, especially for insurance.

when u got the cash u dont worry.

        • wazon8

Still don’t see insurance amount as evidence for particular car to being better in any aspect. That’s the problem, not whether you have money or not.

my insurance is $3,000 a year, maybe because i am 17 lol

  • etuoyo

I paid £2,500 for a 5 series so far more than any on this list. Don’t understand the list though. In the UK insurance is based on how long you have had your licence, your age, the car, where you live, whether you were born in Britain, whether you have off street parking, etc. Many variables. So what variables is this list based on? Or are there no variables other than the car in the US?

    • Geraldo

Yes, we have multiple criteria as well. I would imagine actuaries work for insurance companies everywhere :)

I pay about US$90 a month for a 2007 BMW 335xi sedan. But, I’m in my 40s — just had a speeding ticket recently — first time in 13 years. In my defense ;) I used to own a Jeep — how do you speed in one of those things? Other factors matter I assume are similar to yours — what zip code you live in, rent / own home, previous claims, traffic violations, mileage driven, driving experience, theft protection devices, married people pay less, education, sports car (2 vs 4 door), multiple drivers in family under same policy, multiple policies with same insurer, car value, and statistical likelihood of your car model getting stolen / getting into an accident, etc.

The big age discount comes at 25 for men, and I think 21 for women.

  • 100$ GUY

In Costa Rica, where I live, the insurance for a 2008 335i is roughly $3720 per year.

That would become the numero uno in that list…..LOL
