Geneva Motor Show will host the premiere of another BMW-based model: ALPINA B5. Built on the new generation F10 5 Series, the B5 will bring all the latest innovation from the Buchloe-based automaker.

All the ALPINA trademarks remain on this car as well: the four oval tailpipes framed in the rear by the bumper diffuser, the raised bootlid, and ALPINA custom wheels. The diffuser with fins as seen on ALPINA B6 S is present as well.

The engine is rumored to be a revised version of the V8 Twin-Turbo engine from the BMW 550i F10, carrying the internal name N63. We anticipate the engine to produce around 507 horsepower and 516 lb-ft (700Nm) of torque.

It is also fairly certain that the B5’s engine is matted to the eight-speed automatic transmission and will therefore represent the first production vehicle from Buchloe with eight switching stages.

The ALPINA B5 will make its debut in less than 10 days at the Geneva Motor Show.

dejavu 507hp….why not make it 705? why not beat the others with the numbers? the e60 M5 had 507 , the B5 will be a copy and paste from B7 507hp 700Nm…..the e60 alpina b5 had 500hp….it becomes ridiculously boring with alpina as they copy everything..better wait for M5

You don’t uderstand Alpina’s purposes at all.

      • viper

        what is the purpose then?

        • wazon8

The main purpose of Alpina is to provide cars that are distinctive in terms of aesthetic. Most vivid evidence of it is that in past they’ve resigned from high performance BMW’s engines (for example, from V10 applied in M5 E60) in favour engines from other BMW’s models (in this case, it was 4,0 litre engine from 540i) in oder to achieve proper sound of exhaust. These cars are adressed to poeple who put aesthetic first. They are of course fast, since cars for such money shouldn’t be slow, but it’s not primary point of making these cars.

            what?

  • Bryce

This is going to be one great looking car. However, I don’t really understand why they would want to compete with the M5. I guess this is being made more for aesthetic purposes than performance purposes?

      u totally right !

  • Daniel H ( aka :p )

I wish this would be sold in the US

  • Robert

Nice but… Mirrors…?? side skirts…?? and those rims don’t look too Alpina.. kinda small…??? BUT the back end looks GREAT…!!

  • Robert

..oh yeah.. and no shadow line trim???

  • sean

i saw this same car yesterday on the autobahn coming back from Mannheim…thought it was the new M5 though…sounded like a beast when it opened up but we were mostly stuck in stau (traffic jam)

  • anygerman

aesthetic? try Audi…the aesthetic of their interiors blows away the bimmer…

  • Nizer

I don’t get it. Why essentially replicate the upcoming M5? Alpina should pick up BMW’s monster dropped ball by offering a performance 535i. Now that would be exciting.
