S1000RR Reigns Supreme Among the Competition

We have a fresh video review of the BMW S1000RR superbike facing off against its tough competition in the South of France.  Brought to you by MCN, a strong authority in motorcycle news and reviews, this video shows the dominance of BMW’s new superbike.

The S1000RR is the epitome of performance motorcycling.  With 193 hp, it boasts the highest output 1000 cc engine on the market.  In fact, if we applied the S1000RR’s specific output to one of BMW’s 3 liter engines (lets say the one in the new 1 series based ///M car – the ///M135 if you will), we would arrive at an output of 579 hp.  Of course, the operational demands of BMW’s automotive products differ greatly from their motorrad products, and this is not a true to life engine output comparison – but still, it’s an interesting figure!  With BMW’s extensive F1 engine design and other racing experience, the sky is truly the limit for the Bavarian Auto maker.

We look forward to further group tests from other journals, but for now, please enjoy the following video by MCN.

Not just engine life BMWBLOG tards, but as displacement goes up, the output/litre becomes harder to obtain.

I knew it man!… im sure like many others would have called it, the BMW sure scoops up everything. depending on my decision to get back into riding or not, i will definitely be taking the S1000RR for a spin.

they should really compare it to the Ducati 1198S. sure it’s quite a bit more expensive, but i’ll bet the BMW is as good if not better than the 1198S.

      Jordan,

I’m confident we will see such a comparison between the S1RR and the Ducati in the future. The V-twin of the 1198S allows for strong corner exits with a lot of traction, but with BMW’s advanced traction control and huge power advantage – I’m confident the S1RR will trump here too. They are both beautiful bikes, I highly encourage you to take a look at the BMW in person. Pictures really do not do this bike justice. Factor in the very reasonable price and BMW has a winner. I do not believe they will be able to produce these bikes fast enough to meet demand for a while.

my sister rides a ducati and i can mention some things:
    - it’s veeeery expensive, not just to buy it but also to keep it running and repair stuff
    - its sound is really very nice. it has a bass even on high rpm and at low rpm you have some kind of clicking which also sounds very nice. but for the money you can get a lot better bikes.. my english.. sorry ;)

ya ducati’s are expensive to maintain. another reason to go with BMW.

that clicking sound is the dry clutch. it’s somewhat of a traditional ducati sound although some newer ducatis have wet clutches so no clicking.

This beast uses Akrapovic exhaust, which is the best motorbike exaust available on the market. It’s also one of those exhaust that costs a lot…

BTW, the brand (Akrapovic) comes from Slovenia, a country where I live. Cheers!

      nice you should be proud

I dont know if this is true but I heard there is going to be an Akrapovic Akrapovic exhaust and a BMW akrapovic exhaust

so i am kind of confused

Akrapovic is, like Mike said, probably the best maker of sportbike exhaust in the world. there are a few others that are very high quality as well.

BMW will probably be selling the Akrapovic exhaust for it’s S1000RR in house, that is what was probably meant. you’d also be able to get the exhaust cheaper from an aftermarket dealer.

  8. Mike says:

I don’t know about that. But I do know that Akrapovic is transforming itself also to a high-quality automobile exhaust producer.

You can already buy their exhaust for BMW M3 and Chevy Corvete. I think they also developed an exhaust for Nissan GT-R. And as far as I know, they also provide exhaust systems to one of the F1 teams.
