Great pics! Love the colors on this car. It would be great if that motor is made available as an option in the new M5. Gotta love that BMW is always out there showcasing their ability.

I'm affraid the additional venting at the license plate space is not meant for additional air. The space is made for a temporary OIL COOLER (check the IN and OUT aluminium oil lines through the kidney grills in the close-up pic).

Nothing better than a sorted E28!

There was one E12 M535i for sale at the BMW show at Gaydon, UK.. I was tempted, but it looked a bit rough... and my heart beats to the beat of a 6

The logo on the steering wheel is anything but new. It is the same logo that was used on the classic M Motorsport cars from the late 70's. Which I think is super cool.

Here is a photo of an M1 that I took in 2007 with the same logo on the wheel:

I can only hope that this engine will be on offer in future products. Just because the block isn't new doesn't make this any less than a world class engine. Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche would be tripping over themselves to create an engine its equal. That is an incredible specific output figure for such a large displacement engine.

On another note - this M5 CSL has only two seats. As in, two less than the M3 Coupe. As in... this car has four doors but two seats, so maybe it's not such a stretch to call it a CSL. The rear doors are just for easy access to your helmet and extra tires!
