Another BMW facelift has been spotted again, this time the 2011 BMW X5. Set to launch next Spring, the X5 LCI brings some important changes to the current design.
Most of the obvious changes in this LCI model are noticeable at the front-end where the X6-style headlights will replace the current ones. Judging by these spy photos, the turn signal seems to be moving from the bottom corner up to the top. A new aggressive front bumper similar to the X6 one will be featured on this model.
At the rear, a similar bumper upgrade giving the X5 a more aggressive rear. The hatch/tailgate combination will remain the same as in the current model. The X5 LCI will also feature new trapezoid exhaust tips.
It is unclear why BMW decided to give the X5 a look closer to the X6 Sports Activity Coupe, but that’s the first question on our agenda when the facelift will be unveiled.
The interior will also get small upgrades with the most significant one being the addition of the new hard-drive based Navigation System.
No official confirmation on the engine offerings, but if we were to listen to the same rumors going around, a new 3.0 liter twin-turbo diesel might make its way into the X5 models. The engine outputs 306 horsepower and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) at just 1,500 rpm. Same engine is used in the BMW 735d.
We expect to see the facelifted BMW X5 at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
