The information is correct. The new iDrive with hard drive navigation will be available from October 2009 production on both E70 and E71.

we got confirmation that the the hard drive based navigation system will be availlable already from the October 2009 production. Have we got the wrong information?

For clarification, the X5 will indeed get the two turbo gas engines currently offered in the X6 stateside. These are available around March 2010 production I’m told. The hatch/tailgate combo will remain the same as current, not a single lift hatch. However, if you look at the pics, you see the turn signal is moving from the bottom corner up to the top corner; very interesting.
