It's not the point of these cars, they are dedicated to eco-friendly and wealthy people who primary don't care about money and who are scared by features of M brand products. If you are searching for economics, you won't buy 7-serie hybrid, but 740d, which will be cheaper and have lower fuel consumption. Current economic meltdown will end some day and having such cars as Hybrids in offer will be great thing from development of BMW group point of view. Lexus' example showed that Hybrids with big pethrol engines are selling, despite lack of connections between ecological ideology and their features - 20% savings from pretty high fuel consumption is not what ecology should consist on. If ecology was the only point of Hybrids, they would base on smaller diesels such as in 730d, 740d, X6 35d or poor performance engines such as 1.6 or 1.8 litre.
