A new video of the upcoming BMW X1 has been launched by the folks at BMWwebTV. Peter Krist, Head of BMW X1 Project, explains the technology and marketing behind the new entry-level BMW Sports Activity Vehicle.
The X1 will be initially launched in the European market and slowly will be introduced in other markets as well, including the U.S. The X1 is also the first BMW is the first SAV to offer a rear-wheel drive option as well and will be available with both diesel and gasoline powerplants.
The official unveiling of the BMW X1 production model will take place at the upcoming IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, an event where BMW will display over 70 models.
The X1 goes on sale this Fall with the sDrive18i as its entry level model and a base price of 27,200 euros.

How come it still has the old gear shifter?
A gorgeous car as usual,and those wheels are insane, one of the best ever made by BMW.
A fine-looking vehicle, although I still don’t think the car will make much of a splash in the USA unless it comes with that 40 MPG diesel engine. (And can we please also have the RWD option? Not all of us are members of the cult of AWD….)
