Top Gear reviews the BMW Z4 and compares it against the Nissan 370Z

Jeremy Clarkson likes the new BMW Z4!!! Yes, a shocker to us as well, but we kinda got over that feeling when we read his first review last month on Times Online. As many Top Gear fans might have noticed over the years, Mr. Clarkson has not been a huge BMW fan, except the M3 and M3 Coupe, his reviews could be classified as…..bitter.

Even at the beginning of his new review, he makes it clear that he absolutely didn’t like the old Z4, a statement that many BMW fans would disagree with, but that’s another story…..

So what made him change his mind this time around? “The best thing about this car is how it feels to drive….” and to make us smile a bit, “it’s sorta Uma Thurmanish……PERFECT!”

But one of his closing statements really nails it and BMW can only be happy they managed to satisfy even one of their biggest critic: “And today I would buy a Z4 over a Mercedes SLK in a heart beat…..”

As much as he praises the Z4, the Nissan 370Z takes a beat and settles this debate for now. We do wonder how the new Audi TTS will come against the Z4, knowing that he’s not a huge Audi fan either….

So, we’re less than two weeks away from getting our hands on the Z4 sDrive 35i and we’re hoping that the new Roadster will blow us away.

All good for now, but….we wonder what he will say about the new 5 Series GT.

    well, what i think is the new z4 looks sexy and would like to get laid with it. but it seems that it has been made for women ’cause the agressive look and sport look is almost dissapear. unlike the rear that looks like latino girl the front is too disappointed. forget to tell ya that geremy clarckson doesn’t appreciate the hard working of bmw, but i hope they can just smoke him this time.

    Clarkson always likes soft cars (read: M-Benz). The new Z4 is softer than the old model. This makes sense.

    no am describing the old z4. but i gotta tell ya that the old one has dummy rear and the same thing with the new bmw models that the pig noise is not attatched with the hood and that makes bmw loses alittle pit of its battle to save the identity. i do own a 330ci m3 body kit 2005 model and you can imagine the presence and identity of it and comapre it to the new models. and speak of clarkson, he should know that the bmw priority is the sportness,,,,

    While the 370z was faster then the new Z4 35i, the old Z4 M was faster then both of them at 1:26.0 on the Top Gear test track.

    Well I think it will be very hard for bmw to find anyone who like the 5gt… so useless and ugly IMHO

      Hello… here I am! That wasn’t too hard :)

      What most people don’t understand is that BMW ASKED their customers – and non buyers as well, what they want in a car… and this is the answere to their description. I’ve said many times before, nobody just makes a car and hope it sells.

      A large auto manufacturer like BMW, sell cars to many people. Each one of these customers are individuals with their own likes and dislikes. It would be naive to assume that BMW designs all their cars for only one demographic. Where’s the business in that? Naturally, you simply can’t make them all happy with the entire range.

      The amaizing thing is that the entire above mentioned customer base, can be grouped by one philosophy; Sheer driving pleasure. That in itself, is a huge feat for BMW.

      So, if you don’t understand a particular model… just know, that model will find homes with people like you, but different enough. I hope I’m explaining myself propperly.
