All the test mules initially have the plastic body panels added to them, then when they enter the FEP – Final Evaluation Phase, the panels are dropped in favor of the psychedelic camouflage….my guess….in September, we should start seeing those

Wrong. Both previous 1 and 6 series models had them during testing. Even the Z4 wore it for a long time. The new six and one are the first BMW test cars not to test with them – I would like to know why.

Theory: Both cars’ designs look very similar to the previous models it replace. So maybe it’s not important to disguise the shape, only the detail in skin folds and creases. Obviously the lights on both ends will differ dramatically, so that’s why they’re replaced with test units.

Maybe the 1 series can’t use panels ? The wagons never used panels so maybe the hatch won’t as well. The 6 series is a convertible so maybe it would be better to use cloth.

I’m real confused about why the 5 series sedan and GT were tested with these heavy camo panels, but the 6 and 1 series never had them. Only the camo tape covers the later.

I would love to know why!

Also, just knoticing how much taller the five appears next to the seven. Optical?
