And the wait is over, we have finally received the first images of the BMW X1 production model. After months of teasing and prolonged marketing, BMW reveals one of the most talked about BMW in the last few months.
Our readers’ opinions have been split for months now, some of us enjoy the look of the new X1, while others don’t see the purpose of a new entry-level Sports Activity Vehicle. The BMW X1 will initially launch in Europe and we expect to see the X1 in the U.S. past 2010.
The X1 is mainly powered by diesel engines, five of these models will represent the core of the X1 family. The most powerful X1 model, xDrive28i, will be the powered by a petrol engine which outputs 258 horsepower and 228 lb-ft(310Nm) of torque at 2,600 rpm.
The highest end X1 diesel model will be sold under the xDrive23d naming convention and produces 204 horsepower and 295 lb-ft(400Nm) of torque at 2,000 rpm. This is the second fastest X1 vehicle with 0 t0 62 mph in 7.3 seconds.
While we’re waiting for more official information and the English press release, please enjoy the photos below.

beautiful…
Not Bad!
Actually, it’s not good either.
Love the whole package it’s entirely different look from the original concept. This is the 1st SUV from BMW that adopts new ’shark’ concept front end after F01 and 5 GT and looks beautiful

The front looks really nice. I can’t wait for the other X SUV/SAVs with the shark nose.

Better than I expected. Im not feeling the rear end AT ALL. The shark nose is just ok. Overall just ok. I was not expecting the cloth interior, nor was I expecting the old gear shifter. I thought they were going to put the new one in.
I agree mitchell.
The car surprises me, its not bad.
The front is nice but the rear…..just to wierd. Reminds me of a wierder version of the X3 rear lights which i never liked. Like an unfinished puzzle were the peices dont fit.
On the other hand, the interior for a car that should compete against the likes of a Toyota Rav4 is incredible! I love the design lay out of all the new BMW’s and this one is no acception. Its great.
I too dont see what the old gear shift is doing their, would have been much more appealing with the new one,
Other wise its a winner for the money im speculating it will ask.
amazing X1 is beautiful

There was a time when EVERYONE loved EVERYTHING that came out of BMW. Wow, how the mighty have fallen… this is awful, it’s selling the BMW badge to The Real Wives of some pretensions place…
pertinacious, is what I mean there, I think… need more coffee…
The rear end of this car is gorgeous. I love the tail light clusters…
what I like about this new BMW ?
the fact that it looks better than the X3 , and its got nice interior and console
what I dont like about this BMW ?
plastic in the front and back , deja vu steering wheel and speedo , I dont really belive that its going to be a serious rival to Q5 and GLK , not so good looking
Actually, the X1 will compete with the Q3. The Q5 competes with the X3 and the GLK.
BLACK Plastics – clearly they have not yet learnt from their original X3. Why would they want to make this car look less premium – I don’t know. Front is terrible, especially the side/front view – looks like a protruding mouth!
Interior is beautiful. If you think the car looks better (exterior) in dark colous, it just means that the car looks better if you hide the deisgn lines – which means that you cannot accept the design as being attractive. This is my current thought.
That looks a lot better than I expected.

This is real candy. I just love it. Will definatelly buy X1 xdrive23d AutoTran in a year or so … X1 is one of the best designed BMWs today with the new BMW 3 facelift aswell.
I dont know why, but I think this will steal some sales from the Q5.
Great point!! Didn’t even think about that one!!
now this is masterpiece!!! imagine m version….the exterior, the side look(the trunk line from side view looks a little bit like 5gt…) really just take look at butt…im buying this car for sure…just amazing …

it dont look bad but its missing a point.

Any hope that the RWD X1 will make it to the USA, or are we going to be forced to get the unnecessary (and more expensive in up-front cost and long-term maintenance) AWD?
