BMW announces a new 3 Series sedan for the UK market, the 316d ES sedan. The 316 diesel sedan is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine which outputs 116 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.The engine is matted to a six-speed manual gearbox and the 316d runs from 0-62mph in 10.9 seconds.

The BMW 316d takes full advantage of BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies and it is the labeled as BMW’s most fuel efficient 3 Series ever. The 316d ES manages just 118g/km of CO2 emissions – just 9g/km more than a second-gen Toyota Prius. The diesel engine records 62.8 mpg (52.3 mpg US) on the combined cycle.

The BMW 316d ES Saloon comes as standard with the same specification as the current What Car? Green Car of the Year Executive Car category winner, the BMW 318d ES Saloon. This specification includes air-conditioning, multi-function leather steering wheel, front and rear ISOFIX child seat attachments, front fog-lights and the complete suite of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies as standard.

The BMW 316d will cost just £35 annually in taxes in the United Kingdom courtesy of a band C Vehicle Excise Duty rank.

In the UK, the BMW 316d ES has a base price of £23,330 or about $38,440, but unfortunately, the car will not be available in the U.S.
