I have no doubts that new M5 will be faster on straight line acceleration than RS6 C6 and E AMG, not mention about its track performance. Just think how fast X6M is. M5 can be only faster: it will be lighter of aprox. 400 - 600 kg than X6M and it will have 8-speed gearox, which will give a great opportunity to reconcile fast acceleration to first 100km/h (62m/h) with fast taking 200km/h (and next one) and having really high top speed.

Yep, the new F10 M5 will be a monster, an absolute monster and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, the new M6 will not inherit the same power/torque as the engine used for the F10 M5, irregardless of whether its the 4.4L bi-turbo V8 or the turbo V10 mentioned in a different article. I'm very excited for the new M5. Despite the fact that it will cost as much as the value of my house alone (without land value) and the fact that I'm most likely not going to be able for afford it; I would still love to see it for the sake of the BMW image.

BMW need an absolute monster to recreate an even more positive image for itself. Unfortunately, most people are obsessed with straight-line acceleration, which is something BMW isn't great in; obviously in due part to smaller engines and smaller output. Something fast, blitzing and lightning quick against rival Audi and Mercedes-Benz is something to smile about. The 4.4L bi-turbo V8 is definitely something we all should be looking forward to, and it is definitely the path that all automotive manufacturers should follow; thanks to Audi and the use of forced induction in their lineup.

I would love to see an M5, or most definitely the M6, that is capable of taking on even some Porches around a track. That would be crazy awesome!

could it be that the bronze color is the ugliest? and bmw knew this, therefore they unveiled it in the ugliest color so people would slowly accept it? probably not. but i do think the bronze was the ugliest color.

My lease on my 535i is ending in 3 months and really want to go for the next generation 5er. But I'm still confused on the introduction date. Reading this article, I'm even more confused since you call it the 2010 BMW 5 series, the 2011 BMW 5 series and now the 2012 BMW 5 series.............all in the same article ! If introduction is really planned at the Geneva show in the spring of 2010, should this car not be available later (fall?) 2010. Just my guess. If anyone has more accurate information, please let us know. Anyhow, it doesn't look I will be able to order a new model 5 series before my lease ends...........

Surely, 5GT belong to the class of those car which looks better in real life than on commercial photos. I wasn't impressed by 6-er and X6 until I saw them on the road. Both became really amazing in my eyes and I'm sure that the same will go for this 5 GT.

Wonder about to things concerning upcoming 5-er:
1. Is using 7-er platform a good idea? This will make 5-er much bigger than E60 and it can affect negatively on its handling characteristics. Morover, if BMW made platform dedicated for 5-er alone, upcmoning 5-er would be a lighter (due to be smaller than "baby 7-er").
2. When exactly will 5-er be avaible on market? 2012 sounds really distant in time, E60 will become 9 years old construction on that time. It's true that E60 is still - despite of its age - doing great against brand new E-class and A6 C6, but holding on next three years of competition won't be easy.

Interesting to see that many of you like the 5GT now...as I always said, almost every car looks different in person....

In this case, the 5 GT seems to look better than in any other photos we have seen before and let me tell you, it's quite elegant...

It feels almost like Christmas and unwrapping a present - piece by piece. I agree with framerate...the 5 GT looks more and more prettier to me as well. I think it could be a "cheaper" alternative to the "expensive" X6.
The 5 series sedan will be a "baby" 7 Series. It looks liek that BMW goes from the Bangle Butt to a new stylistice re-occurring design element - The Huge Kidney Grille
