the rumour about V8 is no more than BS…
Benze's and audi's engines are too primitive, ыщьуерштп дшлу V8/V10+turbocharger...
BMW use F1 technology, i think the next M5/М6 gonna be equiped by V10 or V12 5.5-6l , and that engines would produce 120-130 hp per litre

[...] http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/05/28/if...oks-like-this/ 8 speed DSG transmission, minimum 580 Horsepower twin-turbo direct-injection DOHC 32-Valve V-8 to out-do Audi's RS6.... completely new M5 chassis/suspension/brakes/electronics/etc... So what do you guys think? A worthy competitor or not? It will obviously be devastatingly fast... the current M3 coupe with DSG is hitting 60 MPH all day long in 4.2 seconds... so this car will probably have twice the torque and like over 160 more horsepower... so I guess we shouldn't be surprised if it hits 60 in mid to high 3's for sure... any guesses on the quarter mile? And don't forget the next M6 will be powered exactly the same except it will probably weight a couple hundred pounds less than the next M5. The only way to speculate would be to ask somebody here whats the 1/4 mile times, etc.. for a modified 600 HP current M5/M6... the next M5 will most likely be just as fast as this for sure... actually maybe faster since the transmission will shift much faster than the current M5/M6 and the electronics will be much better..... interesting stuff to think about though for sure... P.S. - There are rumours that BMW is also reserving the consideration of taking this 4.4 liter bi-turbo DI V-8 and adding 2 more cylinders just in case....that would be an easily 650 or more HP car....we'll just have to wait and see.... They might just reserve this new DI bi-turbo V-10 for the farther future just in case Benz and Audi up the game with even more powerful bi-turbo V-8's.... [...]

I like it.
@Horatiu - you might not be able to afford the ugly bumper as you won't be able to say No to the "showgirls" until end of 2011. haha

I can help but see this graphic rendered from a 1-series. You guys/gals are gonna call me crazy but look at the contour lines along the side of the vehicle. Look at the body molding around the wheels. Look at the proportions of the upper part of the car to its mid section. This car is beautiful and it screams 1-series. BTW...I own a 1-er, so I guess I'm a bit biased.

Hmm gotta confess I'm not loving this... looks a little too generic aftermarket to me? far too soft (although that could just be the chop quality).

I think the E60 M5 is going to be a hard act to follow.
