The next generation 2011 BMW 5 Series is getting a lot of press these days and more and more online or print media publications are coming up with computer generated images. Last week, it was left LeftLaneNews, back in February, it was out turn to take a stab at this and came up with this. While most of the auto publications have almost identified the front fascia, many are still struggling with the side design lines and the rear-end.
While the Quatroroute approach is….interesting, in my opinion, the front-end is a poor mix of the new 7 Series front fascia and the 5 Series GT. Without sounding conceited here, we strongly believe that our rendering is almost spot on, as far as the front-end goes since we have adventured further yet.
The side/rear rendering is even more close to the new 7er, basically, a shorter version with a lower rear roof slope and a a different Hofmeister Kink approach. Now to give them some credit here, we do believe that they are on the right track as far as taillights design which compliments the smaller, lower-sitting trunk.
As far as the 2011 BMW 5 Series Touring rendering……well….again, interesting, but something is very odd about the side windows and the roof line.
With the official launch scheduled for early next year, in the next few months we will start seeing the 5 Series entering the Final Evaluation Phase where the aggressive plastic camouflage will be replaced by the psychedelic pattern tape which will give us a better idea of the final design lines.
In the mean time, let’s enjoy these silly games, we’re jumping from one to another, but that’s beauty of it in the end.

Looks too much like a BMW 7 series.
I think most upcoming designs are worst than the previous ones- the 5 series is the one model that has been plain butt ugly since the end of life of the e39 model
this is extremely boring
It does look like the 7, but with the strange boxy quality of the 1-series due to the shoulder crease being too high and too straight. The crucial headlamp design is … well, uninteresting, like a sort of blank stare.
Hmm…… I like the VW CC better.
Honesty they HAVE to do better then this. Its so boring and looks like a baby 7er.. come on BMW… put some punch into it.
@Joe: they are, this is just a photoshop. I was told that the new 5er will be the best ever built and the most aggressive one.
