@Anthony: You're absolutely wrong, mate! The CLK does NOT share it's headlamps with the outgoing C Class. There is a subtle, but distinct difference. The CLK headlamps have more "swept-back" appearance, giving it a more aggressive look. Compare them next time you see the two cars next to each other.

people would like to buy this for its looks, performance and technology. It's a merc for pete's sake! This is one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars. It's also got a bucket load of technology and I love its looks. It's sublime.

Car and Driver just had a review. Basically the car looks like E class, shares C class components, and drive like an E class. For these reasons, the price of the E class coupe is actually lower than the E sedan.

Why would anyone want to purchase this? Those who like solid cars, the 2-dr look, and the 3-pt star. Everyone else should stick with the 3 series coupe or A5.

I'm pretty sure the wheelbase is not 2760 m, not 2760 cm, but 2760 mm.

2760 cm is 27 metres ;)

This is not Mercedes' first attempt. With the CLK, they tried to associate it with the E-Class by using the same round-shaped headlights. Although it's named as "C"LK, but some some consumers thought that they were purchasing a E-Class based Coupe, because they share the same round-shaped headlights.

@<a href="#comment-124358" rel="nofollow">D solomon</a>:

Agreed on the looks, the whole Merc line-up is very uninspired and bland. Who cares how good their V8's are when nobody wants to be seen driving their cars.

Mercedes is rapidly losing touch with the luxury market as their cars just don't seem to offer much in the way of driving pleasure plus interesting styling. Only one I've seen that I would like is the C63 AMG - but that's it. The big rivalry is Audi and BMW now...sorry Mercedes.

I think that Mercedes have ran out of creative measures in cars. The E-coupe is nice but the back end doesn't fit the front. Continue the process to complete the car. BMW complete their cars and continue to lead. Mercedes does have technology but all their car stating to look a like reguardless of C, E, CL what-ever.

@John-where is your broken English?2,760 meters=2760 cm...you can read like this two...point,........,......meters.
As you probably know Mercedes is a European builder and so it has the metric system
