We have just finished publishing an article with the latest details on the new 2010 BMW 6 Series and we are back with more exciting information. An additional model will be added to the 6 Series line-up and it will take the shape of a GT car. The Progressive vehicle will be a premium sports car with four door, a coupe shape, but NOT your typical sedan.

The 6 GT will be a “progression” of a sports coupe vehicle and it will be the first BMW coupe with a hatchback and four doors. It will be a four seater only model, each passenger position and the driver are separated with a large sweeping console.

Exterior wise, the BMW 6 Series GT will have a different look when compared to the 6er Coupe and Convertible with a wider grille and headlights which sit above the grille positioned on each corner , similar to the current car from the CS Concept Car.

The headlights when looked at from the side are heavily raked into the front wings to give a more dynamic sporty look. The typical 6 Series flared wheel arches remain intact and will retain the 6ers muscular proportions.

At the lower level of the flanks, there is a more pronounced sculpture, somewhat similar to what we see on the to the latest 7 Series and the future 2010 BMW 5 Series. A strong shoulder line is typical on this car, inverting into the rear lights.

The new car receives an integrated bootlid.

The 6er GT will be powered by similar engines as the ones found in the other 6 Series models, twin-turbo six-cylinder and V8 as well.

Internally, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is developed under the F14 platform.

Thanks for the info Scott!

The 6 series is hardly small so why not put a little bit more money into this project and call it the 8 series?

  2. Giom says:

It makes sence cancelling the CS project -that is a very large car- with a smaller, but simillar in design to the CS-looking car. The chassis exist. It’s called the 6GT because it will share driving dynamics with the Coupe and they don’t have to tune it up or develop it further to create a brand new model range.

    Ok, I’m buying this.

  3. Matski says:

Looks like the CS may end up showing it’s face afterall?

Suprised they havent mentioned the V12TT fromt he new 760 being used in the next 6-er

  4. bunker says:

Here comes the CS. Look out, Panamera…

  5. Vaybach Khan says:

im a die hard fan of new 5 gt,but being a double die hard fan of a 6 series imagine my happiness over 6 gt…its a cs with different name…cls is death..

  6. Lance says:

This is just stupid… A 5 Series GT and now the 6 series GT…. What’s next BMW? A 3 Series Touring High with a bump on the roof line for more rear passenger headroom??? That’d be interesting.

  7. Jay Kay says:

Do they really need this car???

  8. viper says:

they do…..just look around…. if this is true then BMW are just getting better and better…first step was X5X6M….now 5ergt , V12TT , and 6er GT coming soon…..all they need now is a Supercar and thats it

  9. P.wong says:

well if something like the cs comes then ok but bmw always said they wanted to place a car betwen its RR line and the 7 series,is it gonna be the 6 series gt?? but F!ck all that i want that damn cs to see production

  10. Kyle C. says:

that would be blasphemy to make a 4-door vehicle and call it the new 8 series

  11. Doug says:

Will they be raising the height and seating position for the 6 GT (versus the regular 6 coupe), like they did for the 5GT ?

Hint to BMW: DON’T. Just add a hatch for “lifestyle”.
