Update: Full Press Release can be found here
The first BMW X6 M photos made their way onto the web a day before the official release. As promised, we’re returning with more exclusive information regarding the X6 M but also the “twin”, BMW X5 M.
Both models are powered by a tuned up 4.4 liter V8 M engine delivering 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,650 rpm. The engine uses the twin-scroll twin turbo technology with High Precision Direct Injection. BMW patented their manifold technology which improved performance.
The 6-speed M Sports Automatic transmission is featured for the first time on a BMW M vehicle. There are two other modes available beside the regular Drive, Sport and M Manual. Gears can be manually shifted through the paddles located on the M steering wheel.
Due to the M Suspension, the BMW X6 M and X5 M are sitting about 0.4 inch lower compared to the regular models. T
Both cars feature heated front M Sport seats, M steering wheel, M door sills and driver’s footrest.
They both receive the latest iDrive system with Real-Time Traffic data.
No pricing has been announced yet, but stick around, we’ll get that for you soon.

OMFG !!!!! 4.5 seconds????????? that’s fucking awesome
I want an X6 M soo bad
I really fear this could be a nail in the coffin for BMW. The wrong car for the wrong time. It seems unthinkable the amount of cars they’ve cancelled yet still produced the X5 & X6 M. You have to think that they were so late into development that they couldn’t cancel them. Shame.
So BMW used a traditional tall first gear ?
The fact that they accomplished this with smaller displacement is just remarkable.
This is truly remarkable.
@BMWDriver:
That’s what make BMW remarkable they never had use the 6.2L that every other company has been using and the made almost the same amount of hp,like someone said in a review a little while ago, BMW is not raw power coming from a 1000L 1000 cylinders engines, is well applied, smart, controllable and usable power, always in style.
I don’t know what to say.
Engine: Yay !
Tranny: Boo ! Hope the new M5 gets DCT or SMG
I suppose in terms of catering to the market this makes sense though, offering the automatic and all.
Do you guys think BMW’s DCT and SMG can’t support the power of the X6 M leading to an auto tranny ?
