The new BMW ALPINA D3, a 45 MPG sedan that impresses with its looks and performance. The four-cylinder sedan is powered by the twin-turbo engine from the popular UK model, 123d.
According to Alpina, the 214 horsepower 4-cyl diesel produces more “ponies” per liter than any other engine in the BMW Alpina lineup.
The D3 Biturbo is electronically limited at 152mph and runs from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds.
Harpalb, a member of e90post, is the lucky owner of one of the first Alpina D3 BT to be sold in the UK. He recently picked up a beautiful white painted model, right-hand drive of course.
Describing the engine in the D3, Harpalb talks about a “much smoother than the monoturbo, more frugal and cleaner. Very refined in comparison to all other 4 cylinder diesels out there. Race exhaust makes the car sound nicer too”.
The gearbox is up to the engine’s performance, with quick and smooth shifting, much better than in the regular E90 models.
The interior stands out by the performance steering wheel with LED style shift indicators built into it, similar to the one seen in the BMW Performance Parts catalog or in the 1 Series tii.
Alpina D3 BT has a base price of $43,000.

Wow that is SHARP! I’d love to know what wax is on that car in that pic.
Pretty cool. I like.
SWEET! I await the day this car will be available in the US! Alas, I may be waiting in vain.
@Ken:
They’ve been around since the 1960’s and only brought two cars over in that time: The B7 and Alpina V8 Roadster – we’re probably not getting this
eh I like it. but I personally feel that all these details belong in coupes.
When I see a 4-door sedans trying to race me down the 105 fwy… I don’t even bother cuz I think they probably got a baby car seats in the back. Haha. Hey I do I love the color and the wheels though!
Any idea how much it cost?
It’s cheaper than any 6-cylinder 3-series
