For the past day or so, a scanned photo of what it’s said to be the BMW PAS, has been circulating the web. We’ve been holding off on posting the image since by the end of this week, we will see the official photos, but you know how we like to tease you with these spy shots and create even more hype, so we decided to go ahead and post it.
Despite the lower quality of the image, you can see a similar design to the one we have talked about and described for months. While the hype created around the Progressive Activity Sedan concept is slightly lower than the newly released Z4, every bimmer fan is anxious to finally see the controversial idea of a 5 Series- like hatchback.
Judging from the image, we can see a bit of X6 Coupe lines in there, of course, with a lower height ride and the hatchback type end. The L-Shape taillights introduced by the new 7 Series, are present as well. So, yes, this might be the real deal indeed.
As far as myself, I am quite excited to see what BMW has come up with, and most important, it might give us some details on how the next generation 5 Series would look like.

Well i don’t like it, it’s not the kind of car I would buy. Anyway I think it will be successful like all bmw cars in the last couple of years. Remeber what they told about the X6? Now it’s everywhere. Time will tell
It’s definitely BMW styling but it still begs the question of why was this vehicle created.
Successful or not, this thing sucks, same with the X6.
This thing sucks.
it really could be PAS
I want CS!
There is too much 7er in it, so it, to me looks fake.
the rear quarter and roofline is really ugly
Could be the PAS. Could be a POS.
I think it’s a chop. The roof line looks faked.
The BimmerPost boards have a nice chop of a blue one. That one at least looks better.
Whatever…it is now clear to me that this is BMW’s answer to the Audi Allroad.
@Gord: I don’t know Gord, my sources say pretty close to the real deal.
This looks like the X6. I still don’t get it!
could this be bmw’s answer to the toyota venza?
when its gona be revealed?
You know, these pictures make me think of the PAS as a sedanned-down X6 rather than an SUV’d-up sedan. I mean, the design relative to a SUV is much more sleek and attractive than relative to a sedan, where it looks too tall and chunky in the rear.
Nonetheless, I still want a 3-series hatchback with the height of the E46 and they aren’t going to make one. Or a Z4 sedan…..
2 more days guys, 2 more days. All I know is that BMW is excited about this car and you will see an interview on here tomorrow with a top BMW exec.
@Horatiu B.:
Wouldn’t it be amusing to have Gragop interview him? Come on… a little ambush never hurt no-one!
@Doug:
The interview is done already
