I've leased about 14 cars in the last 25 years. In doing so, I've learned some useful strategies, guidelines and tips to follow when negotiating a car lease. This is what I do to get the best car lease deal. I hope it serves you well, too.

regards,

What is the difference if you total your car? Wouldn't it be covered by gap insurance? I would think you get your MSD back even if you total your car, otherwise that's unneeded risk.

Oh and one tip to anyone negotiating. Never, ever tell the dealer "Look, I only want my monthly payment to be $XXX." that's a guaranteed way to get screwed on a deal.

@Horatiu B.: I can push the dealer to get a lower rate, I just wanted to make sure I understood how that worked before I approached one for negotiation. That said, where can we find the rates for a given month that BMW has laid out?

Some dealerships markup the MF, you will most likely not gonna get the one that BMWFS sets for that month. But, some dealerships are willing to negotiate, not easy, but doable

Can you better explain how the security deposit works?

Also, how exactly do you negotiate the money factor? Ask what it is then ask for something lower?
