Our friend EnI, member of GCZ, has some new information regarding future BMW vehicles. I would like to say that I didn’t have a chance to confirm these statements with other sources, but EnI has proven to be reliable many times.
But here is what he said in regards to the upcoming BMW PAS/5 Series GT, the new BMW 6 Series or the 3 Series coupe and convertible facelift.
Quote:
BMW Progressive Activity / 5 Series GT
I was informed first PAS FEP (what FEP means) prototypes were about to hit Munich streets in the next days.
Yet some BMW marketing guys wanted R&D department to keep PAS under pre-FEP heavy camo until a Concept premiere (in Geneva). Engineers claimed such action would postpone FEP phase testing for few more weeks – and that was an absolute no go for R&D department. Board of Director was asked to inetervene … and to decide what to do. The Board of Directors meeting is to occur later this week, or early next week.
However … in the best case the FEP-camoed PAS will hit the roads next week, in the “worst” case we’ll have to wait till early March.
So, still have to wait 1 to 8 weeks.”
2010 BMW 6 Series
F12 6er coupe pre-FEP prototype is also ready – limited drives on Munich roads going on at the moment; prototype is about to start extensive tests at the Nurburgring.
2010 BMW X1
X1 will also starting to enter late FEP phases shortly – meaning even less camouflage.
2011 BMW 1 Series
1 Series prototypes are ready – expect pre-FEP prototypes to start the testings in the next months.
2010 BMW 3 Series Facelift – Coupe and Convertibles
3 Series Coupe and cabrio facelifted cars are also to hit the roads in the next weeks. With slight psychedelic camouflage here and there (mainly front and rear).
BMW 7 Series Hybrid
Also late FEP phase of 7er hybrid is about to start as well.
Baby Rolls-Royce
After 102EX concept premiere in Geneva the RR04 baby Rolls prototypes will also starting to lose some camouflage.
Btw, I was also told Design department was working on a design study concept for Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2009 exibition. Based on the hint that was given to me I think it’s some kind of Mini design excercise.
End quote
As I said a few weeks back, this will be an exciting year for BMW and bimmer fans.

So is the PAS going to be called a PAS, 5 series GT or something else ? I always thought PAS was to designate the vehicle class and not the car name itself.
WHAT? Another 3 Series facelift? I thought the 3 series was going to be phased out by a brand new one, but I guess I am wrong.
@Shrawan Raja: For Coupe and Convertible. Only the Sedan and Wagon received the facelift so far
@Shrawan Raja: Read: 3 series coupe and convertables…’
A note to Horatiu… BMW hates it when RR04 is refered to as ‘baby’ Rolls. I guess it is anything but baby…lol.
3er facelift is for E92/93, E90 (91?) was just updated. I would like to see these…don’t expect much though.
I really want to see the 6er…I hope its rear end is lower than that vert mule-thing we saw not long ago, that’s about it for me.
I doubt the PAS will surprise me, but who knows…
@Gord: It’s still unknown Gord, but it will probably end uo being named 5 Series GT. It will make more sense to people and easier to market.
@patricksixer: Apparently BMW is really excited about PAS, so they might have an ace up their sleeve
