@Auday: Its not a CVT transmission actually running the wheels. It uses the legal transmission but their is a CVT used in the KERs system, which doesnt power the wheels directly.

isnt CVT illeagal in F1? they use seamless transmissions with different technologies (but still with multpile gears, no cones or variable chains like in CVT). Did that change?

Doesn’t the KERS already exisist in the 1 series hatch ? Only difference is that it powers a battery, rather then giving more power.

I think they call it a brake regenration system.

Something like this combination looks like the future to me for application in production cars- especially if weight can be kept to a minimum.
