The new model will import many of the design elements from the CS Concept and BMW may in fact be “embracing the 5-series’ polarizing looks”. Could this mean a total total direction than the one of the new 7er?
Lots of whistles and bells will be coming from the newly launched BMW 7 Series., such as Dynamic Drive active anti-roll bars, four-wheel steering, Dynamic Damping Control, Night Vision System or lane departure warning.
Start-stop automatic transmission will be used for the six cylinder engine, in order to increase fuel efficiency. There will be a wide range of engine offerings, from the European 204hp 2.0L twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine to more powerful ones like the twin-turbo V8 4.4 liter engine.
The petrol engines’ power range from about 180 to about 407 horsepower and the diesels from 180 to approximately 290 hp.
The transmission systems will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed Steptronic box, but do expect the new eight-speed system in the high-end 5er, either 550i or 560i.
Auto Zeitung believes the new 2010 BMW 5 Series will be unveiled later this year, a statement, which in my opinion, is a little bit hazardous.
Thanks for the tip Zach!
