I have always envisioned our blog moving into a more social network direction, a place where our readers can interact, exchange ideas, opinions and simply just talk about our favorite brand, BMW.
After weeks of hard work, we accomplished to connect BMWBlog to Facebook. So, starting today, readers with a Facebook account will be able to login and comment on BMWBlog using their Facebook profile.
There are many great benefits from this, but more important, you’ll no longer have to enter a name, email address and website manually before leaving a comment. Just click once on the “Facebook Connect” button in the comment box area and we’ll automatically detect who you are, even on return visits.
Your name and photo conveniently link to your Facebook profile as well, making it easier for other readers to get in touch with you and maybe become your friends on Facebook. Building a community around our blog, it’s a priority for us.
Also keep in mind that comments left via a Facebook profile will be posted both on BMWBlog and on your Facebook news feed.
The catch – there’s always a catch – is that your comments will appear right next to your Facebook real name and photo. If you want to fly under the radar and stay anonymous, it’s fine by us, just simply fill out the comment box as before. But remember, building a community is all we hope for.
In the meantime, try the Facebook Connect implementation and let us know what you think in the comments. Suggestions about how we should expand or improve our usage of Facebook Connect are also most welcome.
Special thanks to Adam Hupp at Facebook for helping us throughout the process.
