I was really looking forward to this car. The body and interior is amazing. However, I am disappointed in the silver 3.0′s standard gearshift. Apparently, the electronic ‘joystick’ gearshift is only available for the 3.5s.

More photos to come guys, by tomorrow, you should have even MORE. Now I need to get back to Chitown. I ended up going back to the BMW floor after the crowds moved away and took some new photos. I also used a small HD camera to shoot some video, so that will be coming up to.

Of course, the quality of the videos are not extremely great, some people moving in front of it, but it will give you an original idea of the car :)

And yes, the car looks amazing in person, Adrian Van Hooydonk is extremely excited about it, spoke with him for a few minutes and Juliane Blasi explained to me the Z4 design for at least 30 min.

Great people at BMW and very approachable.

Wow! looks great. BMW have pulled up their socks and are moving away from Mercedes-benz more and more with the new Z4 and new 7. Both are becoming more BMWish, a drivers car. I think BMW is even more of a driver oriantated car then Audi. BMW has brought the cool back into their range.

Deep in the photographs (wonderful job Horatiu) are photographs of BMW’s design braintrust; Bangle, Van Hooydoonk, Blasi and Arnaud standing around the car.
Great to see the creative class acknowledged and in attendance.

In the long run I think the car will be cited for it’s breakthru interior design that seems bound to influence the rest of the line, not to mention the legion of manufacturers who copy BMW’s design leadership.

Can’t wait to see the car in person.

I like the design direction BMW is moving in for 2009 and on. The new 7-series and this new Z4 are great looking cars. I’m hoping the new 5-series looks as good.
