Worldcarfans via Motortips reports that a BMW M7 has been spotted 60miles away from Munich. While the story definitely fits the profile of breaking news, I have to take a step back and analyze this.
There was a rumor in the past that BMW M7 might make into production, but that rumor remained at the rumor level and nothing afterward indicated that an M7 will show up….at least any time soon. So, to go with what I know and what I have learned in the past about BMW’s strategy, I would say that this is the BMW 760Li.
The high-end 7er will make its entrance in September and it is has been confirmed many times already. As we reported back in October, the BMW 760Li will have a twin-turbo V12 engine and it will differentiate itself from the lower-end 7 series by double twin exhaust tips and an aggressive look.
Does the car in these photos fit the profile? No doubt it does. Could I be wrong? Of course, but I am willing to bet on this one.
Any thoughts?

I thought the BMW 7er with the CS nose was going to be the 760li but it doesn’t seem that way.
Where would the 760li debut ? Geneva Auto Show ?
I agree it might be 760iL , Leave it for Alpina to do the powerful version of the 7er
The front doesn’t look very M-like …
My vote is for the 760Li. It’s essentially the same body work as the standard 7 so it’s probably not a mule of something else. Also – from the shot looking down on the nose – are those large intercoolers behind the grill? Might make sense for a turbo’d V12.
love those tailpipessssss ahhhhhh
I can see fog lights @ the front bumper , Probably not an M.
diggen the tail pipes.
no doubt its a 760il or just a modified 7r.
this looks like a 760li, probably just going more modifications!
I saw and took a picture of the new 750 today!!! Looks nice.
Looks almost the same length as the 750.. Alpine B7 minus the bodywork?!
The quad exhaust tips and wheels are both tacky as hell and don’t belong on ANY 7 series.
Looks fantastic from the back. I really hope the 760Li has some amazing performance figures. 0-60 in 4.4? same as the V12 biturbo the merc 65 amg has. probably wishful thinking.
the new 7 series is stunning.
It looks fantastic. Will it be at the 2009 Philadelphia Auto Show in Feb? I sure hope so because after school I’m definitely getting a 760 7er and I’m gonna slap some all white 22″ MHT rims on their. Fit for a king!
yeah just hope it will benchmark the cts v
What a pity… that could be the first M7 I’ve ever seen… Anyway – that car is really beautiful – maybe Alpina will make something powerful like a M7 (B7) – but I bet it will be not such beautiful like an original M7 ;p (I prefer M3 than Alpina B3)…
I honestly think think it could be an Alpina but does the interior really look too far off color from the 750? I don’t think so, secondly I have to say that looks like an F01 not an F02. So I’d say 760i because the doors are way too short and it looks dwarfed
