Don't you guys think that this is a bit contradictory??? Not too long ago, the CEO has been sying out loud that they will increase prices and decrease volume of their cars to make more profit. Now, the sales volume decreases without them having to increase their prices. I wonder if they are still going to put a nail in their coffin by increasing the prices.

Also, if you expect to decrease sales volume by increasing prices, why does the BMWUSA CEO still pride himslef in gaining market share this year??? I though BMW's strategy was to sacrifice market share for (possible) profits? So makrte share is not of importance at BMW any longer.

In my opnion, market share is very important as well. So BMW should try to gain market share without sacrificng profits - this is what a truely successful company should be able to do.

Sorry - should have said that the 2009 is comparable to the cost-when new - of the E46.

@<a href="#comment-84116" rel="nofollow">Artmic</a>:

Agreed. I specced out a 2009 328i now and it costs over $5,000 more than a comparable 2002 E46 325i costs. That's a 14% price increase in under 7 years. Ouch.

Oh well, perhaps it is time for BMW to lower the pricing on their cars instead.

Probably down just as bad if not worse in other markets. The US is still one of the cheapest markets to pick up a gasoline-engined BMW.
