We are being spoiled again by BMW with this delightful series of short videos which show what went behind the scenes in the the designing process of the new BMW Z4.
A tradition started a while back and reinforced again when the new 7 Series was launched, the behind scenes coverage seem to be one of the most popular articles these days.
So far we have Mr. Von Hooydonk telling us about the exterior design and today we have Ms. Nadya Arnaout shedding some light on the decisions that were made regarding the Z4 interior, one of the best interior designs to date.
Just listen to her and pay attention what she says, she definitely had some great ideas and most important, VISION! Well done Ms. Arnaout!

BMW is pulling out all the pr stops for the Z4 launch…and it is flawless.
The video w. interior designer Nadya Arnaout (”emotional cocooning!”) is just one example.
Arnaout’s design is a landmark effort that I hope spreads it’s cues throughout the line. She’s clearly a strong conceptual thinker.
The E-89 is the first production car I know of where all the lead designers are women…someone please correct me if I’m wrong. In the past women automobile designers were slotted for color, materials and interior design. More or less kept in the kitchen with “women’s work”.
The Z4 breaks the glass ceiling.
Juli Blasi- exterior design
Nadya Arnaout- interior design (also designed the interior for the CS Concept as well)
Hilke Schaer- materials, trim and colors.
What a fascinating video, especially seeing them work in a tactile, spontaneous and hands-on way with the clay to achieve a design.
Gives me pangs about not sticking with art
